1-2-1 MTB Coaching

Rapid, measurable improvement with a British Cycling L2 qualified coach — tailored entirely to your riding goals.

Why Choose 1-2-1 Coaching?

Group sessions are great, but nothing accelerates your riding like having a qualified coach's full attention for the entire session. Every drill, every trail feature, every piece of feedback is chosen specifically for you.

Whether you're a complete beginner who has never ridden off-road, someone returning to the sport, or an experienced rider who wants to crack a specific technical skill — a 1-2-1 session is the fastest way to make real progress.

Sessions run at Forest of Dean, Wyre Forest, and Cannock Chase — three of the best trail centres in the Midlands — so you practise on real terrain, not a car park.

Frequently Asked Questions

What skill level do I need to book MTB coaching?

None at all. We coach complete beginners who have never ridden off-road right through to experienced riders working on advanced technical skills like drops, jumps, and steep descents. When you book, let us know your current level and goals so we can plan the session accordingly.

What does a 1-2-1 coaching session cost?

A 2-hour 1-2-1 coaching session costs £155 per person. Group coaching (2–6 riders) is also £155 per person. Sessions take place at one of our three trail centres: Forest of Dean, Wyre Forest, or Cannock Chase.

What should I bring to a coaching session?

You need a roadworthy mountain bike, a helmet (mandatory), gloves (mandatory), and clothing suitable for the weather including waterproofs. Bring water and snacks. Eye protection and knee/elbow pads are recommended. We do not provide bike hire — please bring your own bike.

What qualifications does my coach have?

Your coach holds a British Cycling Level 2 coaching and guiding qualification, a British Cycling Leader award, Cytech Cycle Maintenance certification, and is first aid qualified and DBS checked.

Where do coaching sessions take place?

Sessions run at Forest of Dean, Wyre Forest, and Cannock Chase — three of the best trail centres in the Midlands. Each location has different trail types, so we can match the venue to your goals.

Can I book coaching as a gift?

Yes. Gift vouchers are available and can be used towards any coaching session. Vouchers are valid for 12 months from purchase. Visit our gift vouchers page to buy one.

What is the difference between coaching and a guided ride?

MTB coaching is skills-focused: structured instruction, drills, video feedback, and a progression plan. A guided ride is exploration-focused: your guide leads you through the best trails at the venue and ensures you get the most out of the day. Both are great — it just depends on whether you want to improve faster or explore new terrain.

What is your cancellation policy?

Cancellation 4 weeks prior = refund minus a 10% admin fee. Cancellation 14 days prior = 50% refund. Cancellation 7 days or less = no refund. If we cancel due to dangerous weather or unforeseen circumstances we will offer to reschedule or provide a full refund.
